Before breast augmentation surgery, a no-fee consultation

Before performing breast augmentation surgery, I offer a no-fee consultation, lasting approximately 45-60 minutes. I thoroughly answer all of your questions so that you are completely comfortable before leaving the office.  During this consultation, I typically:

• review your medical history
• discuss your goals and expectations
• perform an examination including breast measurements
• review the details of the procedure
• explain procedure options, including:
  • saline vs. silicone implants
  • round vs. teardrop shape implants
  • incision location (above or below the muscle implant location)
• recovery time
• what your “new” breasts will look like post-surgery
• cost

Top 10 reasons women get breast implants

There are a variety of reasons why women want larger, fuller breasts. If you’re considering getting breast implants, here are some of the most common reasons women decide to have breast augmentation surgery so that you are more able to make an informed decision. 

For women who want larger, fuller breasts, breast implants are a safe, highly successful way to get the breast size they’ve always wanted. 

I offer three types of breast implants, all of them safe

1. Silicone breast implants—filled with silicone gel.
2. Saline breast implants—filled with saline (sterile saltwater).
3. Natrelle® gummy breast implants—filled with silicone gel. Choose from five profiles (low to extra full), four degrees of fullness (minimal to maximum) and three levels of cohesivity (gumminess).

Most women—and most plastic surgeons, myself included—prefer the look and feel of silicone implants rather than saline. Silicone implants are generally considered to look and feel more like real breast tissue, while saline implants are more prone to cause rippling of the skin. Women are also reporting high satisfaction rates with the new gummy versions because they can choose the size and shape of their implants for a more customized, unique look.

What I have found in my practice after years of performing breast implants is that, although the decision to get breast implants tends to be easy for women with small breasts, the size of the implant is a tougher decision for them to make. Over the more than 20 years I have been a plastic surgeon, I have heard dozens of reasons why a woman would like her breasts enhanced.  I perform a large number of breast augmentations each year and I offer all of my patients the same advice if they are considering this procedure: Breast augmentation can improve the appearance of your breasts but should not be used as a means to improve your overall life, or to make a bad relationship better.
