Posted by Dr. Samuel J. Beran on Aug 26, 2020 6:00:00 AM

For many years, if you wanted larger, fuller breasts, you had two options: implants filled with silicone or implants filled with saline. Today, you have a third choice: the structured Ideal implant, which combines the natural look and feel of silicone gel with the safety and peace of mind of saline. Now you don’t have to choose between a beautiful, natural look and the confidence of knowing your implants will stay intact.

Now there are three types of breast implants

Concerned About The Allergan Breast Implant Recall? Here’s What You Should Know.

Posted by Dr. Samuel J. Beran on Aug 19, 2020 6:00:00 AM

You may have read or heard in the news that the breast implant manufacturer Allergan has recalled its textured breast implants, here in the U.S. and around the world. A July 2019 statement from the FDA explains the recall:

To protect individuals from the increased risk of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), associated with Allergan BIOCELL textured breast implants, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requested that Allergan recall its BIOCELL textured breast implants and tissue expanders. Allergan agreed and is removing these products from the global market.

(FYI: BIA-ALCL is not breast cancer. It is a type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which is cancer of the immune system.)

Ready To Say Goodbye To Your Flabby Tummy and Sagging Skin?

Posted by Dr. Samuel J. Beran on Jul 29, 2020 6:00:00 AM

For a lot of women, after multiple pregnancies or extreme weight loss, their stomach muscles become soft, flabby and distended. In many cases, even a healthy diet and exercise do not fix the problem. One solution that I often suggest that is effective and has long-lasting results is a tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty.

A tummy tuck surgically tightens weak, separated abdominal muscles and removes excess skin and fat. The result? A flatter, tighter, more toned midsection. In addition, many of my patients experience improved posture and decreased back pain after having this procedure, due to the tightened muscles supporting their spine. To learn more about the range of body sculpting  procedures I offer, click here.

How does a tummy tuck “fix” sagging skin?

Requiring 1-2 hours in the operating room under general anesthesia, a typical tummy tuck removes several pounds of stomach fat and excess skin, and tightens weakened and/or separated abdominal muscles. It can also decrease stretch marks caused by pregnancy, and dramatically improve scars from previous surgeries, such as a Caesarean section, stomach stapling or an appendectomy.

What’s The Difference Between a Brazilian Butt Lift and Butt Implants?

Posted by Dr. Samuel J. Beran on Jul 22, 2020 6:00:00 AM

A lifted, toned, full-sized “behind” is something that few women are born with but that many women wish they had. Maybe you feel this way too? With a Brazilian butt lift (also called butt augmentation), the size, shape and fullness of your butt can be carefully sculpted and enhanced, giving you the sexy, attractive butt you’ve always wanted.

Using liposuction, a Brazilian butt lift takes fat from areas where you have too much—such as the stomach, waist, back or thighs—and transplants it into the buttocks to create a fuller, sexier, more curvaceous shape. In addition to the Brazilian butt lift, I offer a wide range of other body sculpting procedures to help you achieve a more shapely body, which you can learn about here.

Silicone, Saline or Structured: How to Choose The Breast Implant That’s Right For You

Posted by Dr. Samuel J. Beran on Jul 15, 2020 6:00:00 AM

One of the joys of being a plastic surgeon is being able to give women the size and shape breasts they desire. For some, this means larger breasts (breast augmentation). For others, it means smaller breasts (breast reduction) or reconstructed ones following a mastectomy (breast reconstruction). For those who want bigger, fuller breasts, breast implants are a safe, highly successful way to achieve the breast size they’ve always wanted. As well as breast augmentation, I offer a complete range of breast procedures which you can learn about here.

Recent concerns about textured breast implants

There are two general types of breast implants: textured and smooth. In my plastic surgery practice, I only use smooth implants but some plastic surgeons, especially in Europe, have used textured implants that have recently been recalled in the United States and worldwide. To help patients better understand this issue, I’ve made a 2½-minute video explaining the details, which you can watch by clicking on the image below.

Thinking About a Tummy Tuck? Make Sure It's For The Right Reasons

Posted by Dr. Samuel J. Beran on Jul 8, 2020 6:00:00 AM

As a highly experienced plastic surgeon, I feel strongly that my patients should be as well-informed as possible before undergoing any kind of plastic surgery procedure. In addition, they should be realistic about the results they are expecting to see after surgery.

Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, is an effective, highly successful way to reduce excess fat and loose skin, and tighten and tone weakened or separated stomach muscles. The result? A smoother, firmer, more shapely midsection. To learn more about the range of body sculpting  procedures I offer, click here.

A tummy tuck will improve, not completely transform, your life

As I tell my patients who are considering this surgery, it’s important to understand that a tummy tuck will not give you an entirely new life or suddenly make you look like a supermodel or movie star. Your age, muscle tone, body type, amount of fat and the elasticity of your skin will ultimately determine the end result.

For some people, having a tummy tuck motivates them to live a healthier lifestyle and finally give up some bad habits, such as binge eating. For others, a tummy tuck is a permanent solution to the loose, sagging skin that resulted from losing a significant amount of weight.

Whatever your reason for having this procedure, a tummy tuck can be a wonderful turning point in your life, boosting your self-esteem and enabling you to feel confident about your body and yourself.

Why A Brazilian Butt Lift Is Safe

Posted by Dr. Samuel J. Beran on Jul 1, 2020 6:00:00 AM

If you’ve been thinking about getting a Brazilian butt lift but weren’t sure if the procedure was safe, I want you to know that as a plastic surgeon who has been performing this type of body contouring surgery for over 20 years, I can confidently say that I have encountered very few complications in my patients as a result.

In fact, since it was first introduced in 1996, the Brazilian butt lift (also called butt augmentation) is now one of the most requested plastic surgery procedures I perform in my practice. As well as the Brazilian butt lift, I also offer a wide range of other body sculpting procedures to help you achieve a more shapely body. To learn more, click here.

For A Look That’s Uniquely You, Choose Natrelle®

Posted by Dr. Samuel J. Beran on Jun 17, 2020 6:00:00 AM

Aren’t you glad that you’re you? And that nobody else is exactly like you? That’s the thinking behind Natrelle gummy gel breast implants, the breast augmentation choice that gives you the most options for the look that’s right for you.

All breast implants are not the same, from their size to what they’re filled with

The size of a breast implant is determined by several factors, says the Natrelle website. These include:

  • The height and width of the implant
  • Your side profile, or the distance the implant projects from your body
  • The volume or number of cc’s of silicone or saline within the implant
