You might think March is an odd time for me to be looking ahead to bikini season, but actually it makes a lot of sense. If you’ve been thinking about getting a Brazilian butt lift (also called butt augmentation or BBL), this is the best time of year to get the process started.
To show off your “new butt” this summer, I recommend getting your BBL done now, even though it’s still wintertime. That way, you’ll be fully recovered from the surgery and will be ready to show off your new shape. As well as the Brazilian butt lift, I offer a wide range of other body sculpting procedures to help you achieve a more shapely body. To learn more, click here.
What makes your butt sag and flatten?
As the years go by, it's very common for the butt to droop, sag and become flabby. This is most often caused by:
- Pregnancy
- Weight gain
- Weight loss
- Genetics
- Aging
A Brazilian butt lift not only can reverse these changes and give you back the butt you had when you were younger, it can give you a bigger, higher butt and a better-proportioned figure than before. The result? A more pleasing balance between the size of your butt and the rest of your body.
A BBL uses your own fat so there’s no chance of rejection
During Brazilian butt lift surgery, I use liposuction to remove excess fat from certain parts of your body and transfer it to the buttock area that needs augmentation, commonly the higher area of the buttocks to give it a lifted, fuller appearance. Typically, I extract this fat from the lower back, “love handles” and abdomen and use it to shape the top and sides of the butt. I can also slim and trim away where you have too much fat while building up where you would like more fullness. Since this fat is from your own body, there’s no chance of rejection.
For more dramatic results, combine a BBL with liposuction
Once my patients decide to have a BBL, many of them also choose to have fat removed from their tummy, waist area and thighs with liposuction, giving them the sexy hourglass silhouette they’re looking for.

Is a Brazilian butt lift safe?
If you have been considering a Brazilian butt lift but weren’t sure if the procedure was safe, I want you to know that as a plastic surgeon who has been performing this type of body contouring surgery for over 20 years, I can confidently say that I have encountered very few complications in my patients as a result. In fact, since it was first introduced in 1996, the BBL is now one of the most requested plastic surgery procedures I perform in my practice.
How long does the surgery take?
Because of the way the fat is extracted with liposuction and then processed and reinjected for permanent, natural-looking results, butt augmentation surgery typically takes 2-4 hours. However, this depends on the amount of liposuction performed and the amount of fat to be reinjected into the buttocks.
How to know if you’re a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift
- You have lost a significant amount of weight and your butt now sags and droops.
- You are at a normal weight but want to dramatically improve the appearance of your lower body, especially with a bigger butt.
- You are dissatisfied with the overall shape and lack of firmness of your butt.
How long will the results last?
A Brazilian butt lift is a very long-lasting procedure. On average, expect about 50% of the injected fat to stay in the area and about 50% to be reabsorbed by the body, which is why I always put in extra fat deposits.
How soon can I go back to work after a butt lift?
Following the procedure, special compression garments are typically worn for several weeks to help reduce swelling and to help shape the butt. Patients usually can go back to work about one week after the procedure. What seems to work well for my patients who work at a desk is to sit with their weight on their thighs and not their buttocks, using a Boppy pillow.
How much does butt augmentation cost?
Often, one of the first questions my patients ask me when they’re considering having a Brazilian butt lift is how much it will cost. My answer is that there is no one standard price. Recognizing that every woman’s body and expectations for butt augmentation surgery are unique to her, I determine the exact cost of a Brazilian butt lift after I have met with the patient, evaluated her body type, amount of fat stores, overall physical condition and her personal goals and expectations. Then together, we will decide exactly what will achieve the best possible results. For further pricing details, please contact me.
