One of the most satisfying aspects about being a plastic surgeon is enabling women to achieve the breast size and shape they’ve always wanted. If having larger breasts is their goal, I recommend breast augmentation using breast implants, a safe, long-term, highly successful way to get the breast size they’re looking for. For larger, fuller, firmer breasts, breast augmentation is a great option.
Breast augmentation surgery is typically performed to enlarge small breasts, underdeveloped breasts or breasts that have decreased in size after a woman has had children. Breast augmentation can also make breasts more symmetrical if one is significantly larger than the other. If you are a good candidate for breast augmentation without a lift or other surgery, you may qualify for our special pricing.
I offer three types of breast implants, all of them safe
- Silicone breast implants—filled with silicone gel.
- Saline breast implants—filled with saline (sterile saltwater).
- Natrelle® gummy breast implants—filled with silicone gel. Choose from five profiles (low to extra full), four degrees of fullness (minimal to maximum) and three levels of cohesivity (gumminess).
Most women—and most plastic surgeons, myself included—prefer the look and feel of silicone implants rather than saline. Silicone implants are generally considered to look and feel more like real breast tissue, while saline implants are more prone to cause rippling of the skin. Women are also reporting high satisfaction rates with the new gummy versions because they can choose the size and shape of their implants for a more customized, unique look.

I do not use textured breast implants that have recently been recalled
For anyone who has read about or heard the news stories about the problems associated with textured breast implants, I want to clearly state that I only use smooth breast implants for my breast augmentation patients, not textured ones. Therefore, none of my patients have to worry about the recent Allergan BIOCELL recall. I’ve written a blog on this subject which you can read here.
Are you a good candidate for breast augmentation?
The best candidates for breast implant surgery are women who have all the facts they need to make an informed decision, fully understand what the surgery involves and its limitations, and have realistic expectations.
Besides improving a woman’s confidence, self-esteem and body image, the most common reasons for breast augmentation are:
- Small breasts
- Asymmetrical breasts
- Drooping or sagging breasts after pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Changes in breast size or shape due to weight loss
- Reconstruction after surgery to treat breast cancer
- Cosmetic improvements after breast reconstruction
Insurance coverage
It’s important to know that breast augmentations are considered cosmetic surgeries by insurance companies and usually aren’t covered, meaning that they’re self-pay.

If you have breast implants, you should get them checked regularly
If you have breast implants—saline, silicone, gummy or textured—it’s important to get them checked for ruptures, slippage, leakage, swelling or any other potential problems. For all my patients with implants, I highly recommend getting them examined once a year. Please make an appointment to come in and see me so I can check for any problems.
