For a long time, have you wished you had larger, rounder, more prominent breasts? With breast augmentation, you can! But why wait? Now is the perfect time. Contact me for a free consultation. In addition to breast augmentation, I offer a complete range of breast procedures which you can learn about here.
What is involved in breast augmentation surgery
Breast augmentation involves surgically inserting an implant filled with either silicone or saline (sterile saltwater) solution behind each breast. The most common site for the incision through which the implant will be inserted is in the crease just underneath the breast. It can also be performed around the areola. The incision is very small and inconspicuous in these locations.
Typically, a pocket is created for the implant behind the muscle between your breast and chest wall. Placing the implant behind the muscle creates a very natural appearance and makes it easier for you to obtain accurate mammograms in the future and reduces the risk of capsular contracture.
I offer three types of breast implants, all of them safe
- Silicone breast implants—filled with silicone gel.
- Saline breast implants—filled with saline (sterile saltwater).
- Natrelle® gummy breast implants—filled with silicone gel. Choose from five profiles (low to extra full), four degrees of fullness (minimal to maximum) and three levels of cohesivity (gumminess).
Most women—and most plastic surgeons, myself included—prefer the look and feel of silicone implants rather than saline. Both of these are generally considered to look and feel more like real breast tissue, while saline implants are more prone to cause rippling of the skin. Women are also reporting high satisfaction rates with the new gummy versions because they can choose the size and shape of their implants for a more customized, unique look.

When asked if breast implants are safe, my answer is yes
In over 20 years of performing breast implant surgery in my plastic surgery practice, I have encountered very few complications in my patients as a result. For women who want larger breasts, who want the size and shape of their breasts to match, or who have had a mastectomy and want breast reconstruction, breast implants are a highly satisfying, long-lasting solution.
You may have read about the recall of Allergan structured breast implants, which I do not use
You may have read or heard in the news that the breast implant manufacturer Allergan has recalled its textured breast implants, here in the U.S. and around the world. To reassure my patients who have breast implants or are considering getting breast implants, I want to state that I only use smooth implants, not textured ones. Therefore, none of my patients have to worry about the Allergan BIOCELL recall. However, if any patients have friends or family members who do have textured implants, such as the tear drop variety, I am happy to meet with them to advise them on what they should do going forward.
Breast implant surgery performed at Surgical Specialty Center
I perform breast augmentation procedures at the Surgical Specialty Center of Westchester located in Harrison, NY. Each of the Center’s four operating rooms is fully equipped with state-of-the-art anesthesia (provided by a board certified anesthesiologist), emergency equipment and everything else I need to provide excellent care to each of my patients. How much do breast implants cost?
One of the first questions my patients ask me when they’re considering getting breast implants is how much the surgery will cost. My answer is that there is not one standard price. Every woman’s breasts are unique, and the results she is seeking from breast augmentation surgery are specific to her. That’s why I determine the exact cost of the procedure after I have met with the patient, evaluated her breasts and body type, her overall physical condition and her personal goals and expectations. Then together, we will decide what type of procedure will achieve the best possible results.
Insurance companies consider breast augmentation to be elective cosmetic surgery (no matter the type of breast implant) and therefore is usually not covered by insurance, meaning that you would need to pay the entire cost.
If you have breast implants, especially textured ones, you should call your plastic surgeon or come see me for an exam
If you have any type of breast implant — saline, silicone, textured or gummy — it’s important to get them checked for ruptures, slippage, leakage, swelling, the above-mentioned rare cancer or any other potential problems. For my patients with implants, I strongly recommend getting them checked once a year. If you have textured implants which are part of the Allergan recall, you should act even sooner — get them checked right away.
Symptoms of potential problems include:
- breast asymmetry
If you are experiencing of these symptoms, consult your plastic surgeon right away. However, if there are no symptoms, there is no reason to remove the implants.
