Every day when you face the world, do you wish it was a younger-looking face you’re doing it with? For some women, the effects of age, sun damage, smoking, stressful lives and simple heredity are all too noticeable on their face, making them feel older, less energetic and less attractive. Many of them come to me asking if there’s a way to reverse these unwanted changes and my answer is yes! A facelift is a very effective way to tighten facial skin, rejuvenate a person’s appearance and boost self-esteem. This is just one of the ways I can help you achieve a more beautiful face. A facelift is one of the top 10 plastic surgery procedures performed in the US
There were 125,697 facelifts performed in the US in 2017, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Rather than radically changing the way you look, a facelift enhances your natural features and contours while decreasing wrinkles, lines and sagging skin. What I tell my patients considering this procedure is that a facelift is a gift you give yourself that will make you feel better, inside as well as outside.
What takes place during a facelift?
In order to achieve a firmer, younger-looking face and smoother, more attractive neck, a plastic surgeon surgically tightens the deeper layers of the facial tissues. He/she then lifts and repositions these layers, as well as the surface skin above them to recreate a youthful neck and jawline. Virtually no procedure (not even Botox®) can do as much to restore the way a person looked years ago, helping them feel better about themselves, often dramatically.
The incisions are barely noticeable
When I am performing a facelift, I discreetly place the incisions in the patient’s hairline, following the natural contours of their ears. These incision lines are intentionally positioned to be easily concealed by hair and makeup, making them practically invisible.
Do you have to be a certain age to get a facelift?
No. Most people who choose to have facelift surgery are between 40 and 70 years old, but the procedure can also be performed on qualified candidates younger than 40 and older than 70.
When considering a facelift, make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons
Once you decide to have facelift surgery, your goal should not be to radically change the way you look. Instead, it should be to simply enhance your natural features and contours while decreasing wrinkles, lines and sagging skin. In my many years of performing this procedure, I have found that the best candidates for a facelift just want to turn back the clock a little bit, not drastically alter their facial features.
Along these lines, it’s important to understand that a facelift will not give you an entirely new life or suddenly make you look like a supermodel or movie star. Your age, muscle tone, bone structure, amount of sun damage and quality of skin ultimately determine the end result.
How much does a facelift cost?
Because the texture and appearance of every person’s facial skin is different, and the results they are seeking from a facelift are unique to them, the exact cost is determined after I have met with the patient and together, we have determined what kind of a facelift will achieve the best, most natural-looking results.
I am highly experienced in facelifts
Having been in practice for over 20 years as a plastic surgeon, I have performed hundreds of facelifts with outstanding results. I am particularly sensitive to how important it is for both women and men to feel good about themselves, and a lot of that has to do with how they feel about their facial appearance. I can confidently say that by “turning back the clock,” a facelift can achieve the smoother, fresher, younger-looking results they are looking for.
