Many of my patients notice that over time, their breasts begin to droop and sag as a result of pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, heredity, or just the passage of time. If they want larger breasts, I recommend breast augmentation with implants. But if they’re seeking a reshaping of their breasts so that they face straight ahead or upward, I will suggest a breast lift. By lifting and re-positioning your breasts and nipples, a breast lift helps you look and feel younger, more attractive and more feminine — both undressed and in clothing — and more self-confident about your body.
In addition to this type of breast surgery, I offer a full range of other breast procedures that can help you achieve the breast size and shape you desire. To learn more, click here.
How breast lift surgery differs from breast augmentation surgery
A breast lift restores the shape and positioning of breasts that have sagged, drooped and thinned. Rather than making breasts larger, this procedure reshapes the breasts.
During the procedure, a plastic surgeon moves the nipple and areola (the pink skin surrounding the nipple) to a higher position, repositions the breast tissue to a higher level, removes excess skin from the lower portion of the breast, and reshapes the remaining breast skin. A variety of incision patterns are possible, depending on the desired results and the correction needed. A great benefit of this breast procedure is that in most cases, breast and nipple sensation can be preserved. If a patient also wants larger breasts, breast implants can be inserted during a breast lift.
Breast augmentation surgery enhances the natural size and shape of a woman’s breasts by inserting silicone, saline, or gummy gel implants. Unlike a breast lift, breast augmentation does not change the shape of the breasts — it enlarges their size. It is typically performed to augment small breasts, underdeveloped breasts or breasts that have decreased in size after a woman has had children. Breast augmentation can also make breasts more symmetrical if one is significantly larger than the other.
Many of my patients choose to have their breasts lifted and increased in size, which can be done in the same procedure.

Are breast lifts safe? My answer is yes.
In over 20 years of performing breast lift surgery in my plastic surgery practice, I have encountered very few complications with this procedure. What I have found is that for women who want higher, more shapely, younger-looking breasts, a breast lift is a highly satisfying solution.
How much does a breast lift cost?
Often, one of the first questions my patients ask me when they’re considering having a breast lift is how much it will cost. My answer is that there is no one standard price. Recognizing that every woman’s expectations for breast lift surgery are unique to her, I determine the exact cost after I have met with the patient and evaluated her breasts, body type, and personal goals and expectations. Then together, we will decide exactly how to achieve the best possible results. For further pricing details, please contact me.
Is this surgery covered by insurance?
Generally speaking, breast lift surgery is considered to be an elective cosmetic procedure, and is therefore not covered by insurance.
