5 Things You Need To Know About A Mommy Makeover

Mommy Makeover Tips
As any woman knows, having children changes everything…your capacity to love and care for another human being, the way you spend your time, your hopes and dreams for the future, and last but not least, your body. Many women who would like to regain their pre-pregnancy shape often discover that no amount of diet and exercise will completely restore their body back to the way it was. This is where plastic surgery like a Mommy Makeover can help.

A Mommy Makeover is a custom-designed combination of surgical procedures that can rejuvenate the areas that were most impacted by motherhood, and also help you feel confident again with your body. If this is something you are considering, there are a number of things you should think about before deciding to have a Mommy Makeover.

As well as this type of cosmetic surgery, I offer a full range of other body sculpting procedures that can help you achieve a firmer, more shapely body. To learn more, click here.

Before getting a Mommy Makeover, 5 things to investigate

According to the International Society of Plastic Surgery, here are five important factors you should consider before electing to have this surgery.

  1. Find the right surgeon

As with any cosmetic surgery decision, choosing the right plastic surgeon is the single most important decision of your entire process. Plan to do some research on the surgeon’s specific expertise with this procedure, medical qualifications and level of specialized training in aesthetic plastic surgery. He/she should be board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) as well as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).

I myself am board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and I am also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). In addition, I am on staff at White Plains Hospital, Northern Westchester Hospital and Lennox Hill Hospital.

With over 20 years’ experience performing Mommy Makeovers and a thorough command of the most advanced surgical techniques and technologies, I consistently provide my patients with the highest level of plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast, face, skin and body.

  1. Know which Mommy Makeover surgeries might be right for you

There is no “one size fits all” Mommy Makeover. Everyone’s body is different and therefore, a Mommy Makeover consists of a variety of cosmetic procedures that are usually performed at the same time. Some of the more popular procedures include breast lift, tummy tuck, liposuction, breast augmentation, lower body lift and Brazilian butt lift. You choose which procedures you want, in consultation with your plastic surgeon, who will give you his/her professional recommendation to help you achieve what you’re hoping for.

  1. Decide whether you want more children in the future

Some of the surgical procedures involved in a Mommy Makeover can make having children more complicated. A breast lift or breast augmentation can sometimes make breastfeeding more difficult because some breast tissue is removed, causing scar tissue. Likewise, the benefits of a tummy tuck can soon vanish if you become pregnant again. Depending on your personal body goals, you may want to wait until you are finished having children before deciding to have a Mommy Makeover.

  1. Maintain your results with healthy living

A Mommy Makeover can give you remarkable results and a “new” body, but you need to do your part in preserving those results. Being fit and maintaining a healthy weight will not only help speed up your recovery and but will also maximize your results and help them last.

  1. Plan for recovery time

As with any surgical procedure, there’s always downtime to be expected while your body recovers. Speak to your plastic surgeon about how long this period should last. You’ll want to know how soon will you be able to drive, when can you expect to return to work, and how long should you avoid heavy lifting. You should also arrange for someone to help with childcare, running errands, doing household chores, and preparing meals during this time. The more prepared you are beforehand, the easier and less stressful your recovery will be.

A procedure with an extremely high satisfaction rate

According to a June 2020 survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of RealSelf, a leading source for people considering cosmetic treatment, an impressive 97% of patients said that a Mommy Makeover is worth having. This plastic surgery technique also made the top ten list of highly-rated aesthetic procedures.

How much does a Mommy Makeover cost?

One of the first questions my patients usually ask me when they’re considering having a Mommy Makeover is how much it will cost. My answer is that there is no one standard price. Recognizing that every woman’s body and desired results are unique to her, I determine the exact cost of a Mommy Makeover after I have met with the patient, evaluated her body type, amount of fat stores, overall physical condition and her personal goals and expectations. Then together, we will decide which plastic surgery procedures will achieve the best possible results. For further pricing details, please contact me.

Is this surgery covered by insurance?

Generally speaking, Mommy Makeover surgery is considered to be an elective cosmetic procedure, meaning that it is not covered by insurance.
