Lately I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from my patients who say they really like my videos where I talk about a certain plastic surgery procedure. I describe if you’re a good candidate for that particular surgery, what happens during the procedure, what results to expect, and what the risks and benefits are.
Since patients get a lot of important information from them, I thought I’d make one about one of the most popular breast shaping procedures I perform: breast augmentation. You can read what I talk about (here in this blog) or you can watch my short 2-minute video by clicking on the button below.
Would you like larger, fuller, firmer breasts? Breast augmentation is a great option.
In this procedure, I take your natural breast size and shape and enhance and augment it, not really reshape it. By this I mean that if your breast is already droopy or there’s some loose skin there, breast augmentation is not necessarily going to make your breast appreciably tighter.
Likewise, if you have a mature breast and you’re the mother of two children, a breast augmentation is not going to return your breasts to the way they were when you were 20 years old. However, breast augmentation will give you larger, fuller, firmer breasts and a bigger bra cup size.
Three types of breast implants
There are three types of breast implants available in the United States today:
- Silicone breast implants are filled with silicone gel
- Saline breast implants are filled with saline (sterile saltwater)
- New structured, saline-filled implant (Ideal Implant) that combines the natural look and feel of silicone gel with the safety and peace of mind of saline (not eligible for my special pricing)
Most women (and most plastic surgeons, myself included) prefer the look and feel of the new structured implant or silicone implants, both of which are generally considered to be more like real breast tissue. Saline implants are more prone to cause rippling of the skin.
It’s important to know that breast augmentations are considered cosmetic surgeries by insurance companies and usually aren’t covered, meaning that they’re self-pay.
