CoolSculpting: It’s Not Weight Loss, It’s Fat Loss

CoolSculpting: It’s Not Weight Loss, It’s Fat Loss

Do you have stubborn pockets of fat that just will not go away no matter how much you diet and exercise? Do you want your clothes to fit better, look better, and feel better? Would you like to feel more confident in bathing suits and lingerie? Now there’s a way to get all of these without surgery, anesthesia, scars or recovery time. It’s CoolSculpting!

A non-invasive body contouring procedure, CoolSculpting removes stubborn layers of fat by freezing them and eliminating them from your body—without surgery. As well as CoolSculpting, I also offer a wide range of body sculpting procedures to help you achieve a more shapely body, which you can learn about here. To find out which areas of the body respond best to CoolSculpting, watch my short video by clicking on the image below.

What is stubborn fat?

The website CoolSculpting.com explains that the number of fat cells in your body is determined during your childhood and adolescence and does not really change as you grow up. This number of fat cells is specific to you, and varies from person to person. In addition to their individual number of fat cells, some people have stubborn pockets of fat that are really hard to reduce in spite of diet and exercise. These fat pockets vary from person to person, because everyone carries fat in different areas of their bodies.

CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment, it’s a fat reduction treatment

Fat reduction and weight loss are two different things. Losing weight doesn’t always lead to a more sculpted appearance, but reducing fat can change the shape and contours of your body. And that’s what CoolSculpting does—reduce pockets of fat in stubborn areas like the abdomen, thighs, flanks and under the chin in as little as one session.*

How CoolSculpting works

Unlike ultrasound- or heat-based fat-reducing treatments which explode unwanted fat cells, CoolSculpting freezes them. It actually kills fat cells in the area being treated, then these cells are flushed from the body as waste, leaving you more toned and sculpted.

A CoolSculpting procedure takes about 30 minutes per area of your body. First, a gel pad is placed over the area that is being treated to protect your skin from the freezing treatment. Next, a device similar to a large vacuum hose is attached to your skin, which vacuums the skin above the area of fatty tissue into an applicator that cools the fat cells. You will feel a cold sensation like an ice pack on bare skin, then a firm tug and pull — enough to make sure the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently. Then you will feel a sensation of intense cold, followed by numbness in the area. Cold does not damage other types of cells in the way it does fat cells, so there should be no damage to the skin or underlying tissue.

Since CoolSculpting is completely non-invasive, you can return to your normal activities immediately. You may experience redness, minor bruising, tingling or numbness in the treated area, but this is temporary.

What CoolSculpting won’t do

Although CoolSculpting is extremely effective at freezing and destroying fat cells, it is not a weight loss treatment. It is designed for people who live active lifestyles, experience minimal weight fluctuations and want to target certain areas of their bodies that are resistant to exercise and healthy eating habits.

As MedicalNewsToday explains, “Though this procedure can remove areas of fat, it is not a miracle cure, and people should not expect to see a complete removal of fat. Lifestyle and other factors also play a role. A person who continues to eat an unhealthful diet and remains sedentary while undergoing CoolSculpting can expect less fat reduction. Likewise, CoolSculpting cannot tighten loose skin. If the skin has stretched around fatty buildups, a person may have excess skin after the procedure.”

Say goodbye to 25% of your fat cells

After a CoolSculpting treatment, the fat cells in that specific area have been frozen, killed and eliminated from your body. They can no longer expand because they no longer exist. The result. The size and occurrence of “fat areas” are greatly reduced long-term.*

However, since each CoolSculpting treatment reduces only about 20-25% of your fat cells, if you do not continue to eat sensibly and exercise regularly, you can still gain weight in that area due to the remaining 75% of fat cells that can expand. That’s why it’s important not to gain weight after the procedure or your results will not be long-lasting.
