Your face, as we all know, says so much about you. It's the most visible part of yourself and to a great degree, influences how the world sees you and how you feel about yourself. A great way to enhance your face is with Botox. In fact, after a Botox treatment, my patients often tell me how happy they are, not only with how much better they look but how much better they feel.
Want to look younger, smoother and less wrinkled? With Botox, you can.
One of the most popular facial procedures I perform, Botox enables you to look years younger but does not involve surgery and does not cause facial scars.
So what can Botox do for your facial appearance? It noticeably improves the appearance of moderate to severe crow’s feet lines around the eyes, frown lines around the mouth and vertical forehead creases between the eyes. In addition, Botox injected into the lower face and neck muscles can improve some of the visible signs of aging in these areas as well.
Contrary to what some people think, Botox is not a filler. It is actually a protein produced by a bacteria called clostridium botulinum which, in the small amounts that physicians use, can safely be injected into a muscle to cause it to relax by blocking signals between the nerves and the muscles. This “muscle blocking” is what decreases the appearance of wrinkles, lines and creases. Note: Botox cannot decrease wrinkles caused by gravity or sun exposure—only those wrinkles caused by squinting and/or muscle patterns.
What does a Botox procedure involve?
Botox is a liquid and is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles, causing minor discomfort. The typical Botox procedure takes only a few minutes and does not require any pain-numbing medication. A treatment generally takes 3-7 days to take full effect.
How long does a Botox treatment last?
The effects from Botox usually last 3-4 months. After that, as muscle movement gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and will need to be treated again. However, these lines and wrinkles often appear less visible with each treatment because the muscles are being trained to relax.
How much does Botox cost?
Because the texture and appearance of every person’s facial skin is different, and the results they are seeking from Botox are unique to them, the exact cost is determined after I have met with the patient and together, we have decided the number and location of Botox injections that will achieve the best, most natural-looking results.
