Mommy Makeover: 7 procedures to choose from and combine
Many of the physical changes caused by pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding can be beautifully improved or even reversed by these body sculpting procedures that can be performed in combination, including:
Breast augmentation surgery is typically performed to enlarge small breasts, underdeveloped breasts or breasts that have decreased in size after a woman has had children. It can also make breasts more symmetrical if one is significantly larger or smaller than the other. There are three types of breast implants available in the U.S.: saline (sterile saltwater), silicone gel and the Ideal Implant (a structured, saline-filled implant that combines the natural look and feel of silicone gel with the safety of saline).
Breast lift surgery restores the shape and contour of breasts that have sagged as a result of pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, age, gravity, heredity and other factors. This procedure re-positions the nipple and areola (the pink skin surrounding the nipple) to a higher position, moves the breast tissue to a higher level, removes excess skin from the lower portion of the breast, and reshapes the remaining breast skin.Liposuction slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and improving your body contours and proportion. As long as you maintain your weight, liposuction is a permanent solution for fat removal. There are three liposuction techniques: tumescent (traditional) liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction (SmartLipo) and ultrasound-assisted liposuction. The most commonly-requested areas of the body for liposuction are: waist, hips, flanks, arms, abdomen, thighs, buttocks and lower legs.
Butt augmentation entails taking fat cells from areas where there are too many. These cells are cleaned and purified, then injected into and through layers of the buttocks to create a fuller, larger and more curvaceous behind.
A Brazilian butt lift uses liposuction to take pockets of excess fat from unwanted areas such as your belly, waist or thighs and then transfers this fat to the buttocks area, increasing the size, shape, position and fullness of your butt. The benefits of a Brazilian butt lift are two-fold: it slims and trims those areas where you have too much fat, plus it gives you a higher, fuller, firmer butt. Since a Brazilian Butt Lift uses your own fat, there is very little risk of rejection.
Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, is a highly effective way to reduce excess fat and skin and tighten abdominal muscles. A tummy tuck removes loose, flabby skin that has lost its shape and elasticity, strengthens weakened stomach muscles, improves the look and shape of the belly button, defines the waist, removes stretch marks, and creates a smoother, tighter midsection.
Lower body lift surgery, often done in conjunction with liposuction, reduces excess fat and loose, hanging skin. It is also very effective at tightening and sculpting the buttocks, back of the thighs, outer thighs, inner thighs, hips and abdomen. Lower body lift surgery may also help minimize the appearance of cellulite.
Am I a good candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
Mommy makeover surgery is a highly individualized procedure, or combination of procedures. As I tell all of my patients who are considering this surgery, you should do it for yourself, not to try to fit some sort of ideal image (airbrushed fashion models or movie stars) or to fulfill someone else’s ideas of what your body should look like.
Ideal candidates for Mommy Makeover surgery should:
- be in good medical health
- be at or near their ideal body weight
- have a positive outlook and realistic expectations
- be finished with childbearing
- not smoke or drink excessively
How much does a Mommy Makeover cost?
One of the first questions my patients usually ask me when they’re considering having a Mommy Makeover is how much it will cost. My answer is that there is no one standard price.
Recognizing that every woman’s body and desired results are unique to her, I determine the exact cost of a Mommy Makeover after I have met with the patient, evaluated her body type, amount of fat stores, overall physical condition and her personal goals and expectations. Then together, we will decide which combination of plastic surgery procedures will achieve the best possible results. For further pricing details, please contact me.
