What will a breast lift do?

By lifting, reshaping and repositioning your breasts and nipples, a breast lift enables you to look and feel more attractive, more feminine and more confident about the appearance of your breasts.

This plastic surgery procedure is performed by moving the nipple and areola (the pink skin surrounding the nipple) to a higher position, moving the breast tissue to a higher level, removing excess skin from the lower portion of the breast, and reshaping the remaining breast skin. Many of my patients choose to have their breasts lifted and increased in size (breast augmentation) during the same procedure.

One of the most satisfying aspects about being a plastic surgeon is being able to help patients feel better about themselves and their bodies. Together, we can achieve this by any number of body enhancing surgeries, such a Brazilian butt lift, Mommy Makeover, breast augmentation, tummy tuck or liposuction.

Yet recently, the procedure that more and more of my patients are asking for is a breast lift. And they’re not alone. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, breast lifts have grown 70% since 2000, outpacing breast implants 2-to-1. Breast implants are still by far the most performed cosmetic surgery in women, the ASPS reports, but breast lifts are steadily gaining, with most patients being between the ages of 30-54. "Many women are looking for a youthful breast by using the tissue they already have," says ASPS President Robert X. Murphy, Jr., MD.

From time to time I make short videos where I talk about a certain plastic surgery procedure, and my patients seem to really like them.
